A  lifelong  animal  lover  and  dog  owner,  I,  and  my   long   time  pet companion,  Snickers  (a  people  loving,  smiling,  female  mixed  breed), currently  participate  in  the  Dove  Lewis  Animal  Therapy  program.   I  am  also possessed  of/by a  cat, Thumbs, a  taciturn  female with lots of cattitude. Having  had many  beloved pets of  my  own, I feel privilaged to be able to create  portraits  which  reflect  the love that others share  with their pet companions.

I began sculpting and painting at a young age, and though I had worked

as a screen printer, art director, and sculptural assistant, while a young adult, I did not turn to fine art  as  a  profession  until  mid-life.  After acquiring a Bachelor of  Fine Arts  degree  from  Pacific Northwest College of Art  at  the  age of  fifty-three,  I took up pet portraiture, along with sculpture, landscape painting, and teaching.

Considering myself to be an artist/craftsman and I bring a sense of  craftsmanship to all of my art. Capturing an accurate visual image is the craft, capturing the spirit, beauty, and  individuality  of  the  subject is the art.

Though I enjoy the creative process involved, what I  find most gratifying about this work is the response of the pet owner when they see the results of my efforts.
